Gothic Slam was an American thrash metal band from Union City , New Jersey , which was founded in 1984 under the name Stryker and split up in 1991.

history

The band was founded in 1984 by cousins ​​David Chavarri (drums) and Claudio Gonzales (electric guitar) under the name Stryker. The line-up of the band changed several times until singer Daniel Gomez and bassist JT finally joined. Shortly afterwards, Billy Genese joined the band as the second guitarist. Various appearances followed. The group reached a contract with Torrid Records and changed their name to Gothic Slam. Her debut album Killer Instinct was released on this label in 1986, which was followed by the album Just a Face in the Crowd . The band was featured on the Headbangers Ball show on MTV . The group also went on tour with Lääz Rockit . Drummer Dave Chavarri later played with Laaz Rockit, MOD , Pro-Pain and Ill Niño . In 1991 the band broke up.

The band plays classic Thrash Metal, with the demanding playing of the drums being particularly characteristic.
