Gottardo Gottardi (born August 12, 1961 ) is a Swiss grandmaster in correspondence chess :

Gottardi played his first long-distance games when he was 13. Its main stations are

  • Shared second place at the 10th Swiss Correspondence Chess Championship 1977/80 with 9.5 out of 12 points
  • 4. Coupe Latine 1986/89: win with the Swiss team
  • Semifinals of the 18th World Correspondence Chess Championship 1989/92: 1st place (12.5 out of 14)
  • 3/4 final of the 16th World Correspondence Chess Championship (11.5 out of 15)
  • 4th European team championship: bronze medal with Switzerland
  • Konstantinopolski Memorial 1993/96: 1st place (13 out of 14)
  • Final of the 15th Correspondence Chess World Championship 1996/2002: Tied on places 2 to 4, place 4 according to the ranking according to Sonneborn-Berger

In 1996 Gottardi received the title of correspondence chess grandmaster . In 2003 he became an honorary member of the Swiss correspondence chess association SFSV.

In 2000 he finished 9th in the ICCF world rankings. At that time, his was Elo 2666th

Until 1986, Gottardi was also active in local chess and qualified for the title of FIDE master . Its Elo rating has remained unchanged at 2305 since July 1987, and its highest rating of 2325 was achieved in July 1986.
