Gottfried Asimont

Johann Gottfried Asimont (born July 3, 1824 in Fünfbronn, today in Spalt ; † November 4 or December 8/9, 1897 in Munich ) was a German railway technician .

Life

His father, Johann Friedrich Asimont worked as a pastor a. a. in Hotzhausen.

Gottfried attended the polytechnic in Nuremberg, the engineering school in Munich, and the building school at the Academy of Arts there.

In 1846 he entered the civil service and was a royal Bavarian construction intern in some places until 1853. After that he was a functioning construction officer at the Kgl until 1858. District government in Munich. From 1858 to 1863 he served as a senior engineer at the KK Südbahn in Pettau and Oedinburg and then for three years as a senior engineer at the Hof-Eger railway company. As a result of war events, he paused from 1866 to 1868, while studying and then was chief engineer of the Hungarian Alföldsbahn in Lower Hungary.

In 1873 he was appointed full professor of engineering at the Technical University in Munich . He became known with his prize question: "What stresses ensue in the members of a trussed girder due to a change in angle at the trussed framework connections caused by the load?". Heinrich Manderla (1853–1889) published the solution to this award task in the annual report of the TH Munich 1878/1879. In November 1884 Asimont was accepted into the Leopoldina learned society .

His daughter Marie (1877–1970) married Wilhelm Wunder in 1902 .
