Gottfried Bernhard von Eckardstein

Gottfried Bernhard von Eckardstein , also Gottfried Burckhard von Eckhardstein (* December 23, 1769 , † October 17, 1816 ) was a German entrepreneur and stoneware manufacturer in Berlin.

Gottfried Bernhard von Eckardstein was the eldest son of the Lower Saxon merchant and mirror glass manufacturer Ernst Jacob Eckard (from 1799 Freiherr von Eckardstein). After initially unsuccessful as a partner in a Petersburg store, he moved from Hanover to Berlin in 1799. In February 1800 he took over the stoneware and faience factory founded by Johann Friedrich Kammann on November 30, 1797 at Landsberger Strasse 65. He ran this factory very successfully. Friedrich Gilly and the young Schinkel made drawings of vessels for the factory. Eckardstein was married to Sophie Elisabeth Karsten (1782-1865). After his death, his widow became the owner of the factory, which continued under the name EFG v. Eckardstein heirs existed in family ownership; from 1833 to 1841 owned by son Eduard (1802–1841) and then owned by son Wilhelm (1803–1869).
