Gottfried Julius Bergfeld (born July 19, 1875 in Bremen ; † September 8, 1934 in Bremen) was a German manufacturer.

Family, education and work

Bergfeld came from the Bergfeld entrepreneurial family. He was the grandson of Ludwig Bergfeld and the son of Gottfried Bergfeld, who was also the Chamber President of the Bremen Chamber of Crafts . He completed a boarding school and then studied at the Karlsruhe Polytechnic . During his studies in Karlsruhe he became a member of the Corps Saxonia in 1894 . In 1901 he joined the gold and blacksmith factory Koch & Bergfeld , which, however, only operated under this name from 1856. He became a partner in the company in 1901. The company was founded by Gottfried Koch in 1829 and Ludwig Bergfeld soon joined the company. Gottfried Bergfeld managed the operational part of the company, Gottfried Koch jun. the technical area. Between 1890 and 1900 the number of employees grew from 400 to 600 and around 1900/1914 to around 800. The Bergfeld family left the company in 1934.

Further memberships and offices

Bergefeld was the promoter of the Bremen arts and crafts. From 1922 to 1925 he was chairman of the Bremen Automobile Club and he donated the Golden Bergfeld Cup . He was a member of the supervisory board of Bankverein für Norddeutschland AG, which operated from 1921 to 1945. As a board member of the Bremen Aviation Association from 1909, he was also one of the people in charge who laid the foundations for Bremen Airport .
