Gottfried Wilhelm Wagemann

Johann Gottfried Wilhelm Wagemann (born March 17, 1742 in Kirchwehren ; † July 31, 1804 in Eilsen ) was a German Lutheran theologian and general superintendent of the General Diocese of Göttingen .

Life

Wagemann was born in Kirchwehren as the son of the local pastor Johann Georg Wagemann and his wife, the pastor's daughter Sara Eleonore Niemann from Mariensee (Neustadt am Rübenberge) . He studied theology and, after working as an assistant pastor in Ahlden, became second pastor at the St. Johannis Church in Göttingen in 1771 , archdeacon (second pastor) in Clausthal in 1773 and pastor at the St. Marien castle church and superintendent in Osterode in 1776. From 1779 to 1804 Wagemann was first pastor at St. Johannis in Göttingen and general superintendent as well as consistorial councilor .

Wagemann was a great-grandfather of the physicist Max Planck .
