Gottfried Winkler (born March 13, 1956 in Wartberg ob der Aist ) is an Austrian trade union official . Until December 5, 2016, Winkler was chairman of the transport and services union vida . He belongs to the group of social democratic trade unionists (FSG). He is the deputy chairman of the central works council of ÖBB Infrastruktur AG, and was chairman of this body until October 2015. Winkler is also a board member of the ÖGB . As a staff representative is a member of the supervisory board of ÖBB Holding AG and ÖBB Infrastruktur Betrieb AG.

From 2001 to 2006 he was Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Austrian Civil Service Insurance , and since 2006 Winkler has been Chairman of the Insurance Company for Railways and Mining (VAEB).

Life

Gottfried Winkler trained to be an electrical fitter and joined the ÖBB in 1974 in the shunting service. He has been a member of the union since 1985. From 2003 to 2006 he was deputy chairman of the railway workers' union (GdE). After the GdE merged with the Hotel, Hospitality, Personal Service (HGPD) and the Trade, Transport, Traffic (HTV) trade union to form the transport and service union vida, Winkler acted as deputy chairman of the vida transport section from 2007 to 2011 of the Federal Expert Group on Rail. On November 6, 2014, Winkler was elected chairman of the vida union. He had already held this executive position since December 2012.

In addition to his trade union functions, Winkler works as a lay judge within the meaning of the Labor and Social Court Act (ASGG) at the Supreme Court.

In the works council election of ÖBB Infrastruktur AG in June 2015, FSG, with Winkler as the top candidate, achieved its historically best election result with 95.11% of the vote.

Günter Blumthaler Winkler succeeded him as Chairman of the Central Works Council of ÖBB Infrastruktur AG on October 22, 2015 .
