Gotthart Koehler

Gotthart Köhler (* 1909 in Glauchau ; † 2006 ) was a German electrical engineer and GDR national prize winner.

Life

Koehler, who comes from Glauchau, trained as a locksmith and electrician. After studying in Chemnitz at the State Academy for Technology, he got his first job as an engineer in 1934 at the Heidenau electric motor factory (Saxony) . Due to the arms production at his place of work, he was not drafted into the Wehrmacht during the war. After the end of the war he moved to Lößnitz (Erzgebirge) and worked in neighboring Zwönitz , where he built up the local electric motor plant. He joined the CDU . In 1950 he successfully applied for a position at the electric motor factory in Wernigerode , which he took up on November 29th. He became director of the plant. He resigned this position in 1953 and was now deputy director. The June 17, 1953 ended for him with a circulatory collapse. After his recovery he became chief designer. His inventions include u. a. the insulating varnish Isoperlon.

In 1969 he stepped shorter on a doctor's recommendation. He worked as a research assistant to the plant director until 1973, after which he retired.
