Gottschalk from Diepholz
Gottschalk von Diepholz († January 1, 1119 ) was Bishop of Osnabrück from 1110 to 1119 .
Life
Gottschalk was the first bishop of the diocese to come from a well-known family. He belonged to the house of the Counts of Diepholz and was the son of the father of the same name. He became provost of the cathedral in Minden.
He was appointed bishop by Heinrich V. Nevertheless, he was on the papal side afterwards and was an opponent of the emperor. His death occurred at the time of a Saxon uprising against the emperor. Little is known about his other activities.
He was buried in the monastery church of the Benedictine monastery in Iburg . His magnificent tomb has been preserved.
