Coordinates: 34 ° 44 ' S , 149 ° 44' O Goulburn Mulwaree Council is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of New South Wales . The area is 3,220.1 km² and has about 29,600 inhabitants. When the old LGA Goulburn City merged with parts of Mulwaree Shire in 2004, the area was still called Greater Argyle, but was given its current name the following year after protests.
Goulburn Mulwaree is located in the southeastern region of the state about 95 km northeast of the Australian capital Canberra and 190 km southwest of the metropolis Sydney . The area comprises 42 hamlets and hamlets, including Argyle, Bungonia, Goulburn , Lake Bathurst, Kenmore, Komungla, Marulan, Tallong, Tirrannaville, Towrang, Windellama, Yarra and part of Tarago. The seat of the Shire Council is in the northern half of the LGA in Goulburn, which has about 22,400 inhabitants.

The Goulburn Mulwaree Council has nine members elected by LGA residents. Goulburn Mulwaree is not divided into districts. The mayor of the council is also recruited from among the councilors.
