The Governor Mountain is a 1,550 m high, largely ice-free mountain at the Oates Coast of the East Antarctic Victoria Land . It rises on the western flank of the area where the Tomilin Glacier formed in the Wilson Hills .
The area was mapped by the United States Geological Survey from 1962 to 1963. The mountain served as a measuring station for the northern group of 1963 carried out until 1964 campaign as part of the New Zealand Geological Survey Antarctic Expedition , which took him to Bernard Fergusson named, (1911-1980) the 1962 reigning until 1967 Governor General ( English Governor General ) of New Zealand .
