Örelid's stenar

The burial ground of Örelid or the stones of Örelid ( Swedish Örelids stenar ) is a burial ground in the Swedish province of Halland County . The cemetery is to the east of Tjärby church , on a hill north of Laholm .

It consists of 36 building stones from the Iron Age and two burial mounds . To the south of the burial ground are two more burial mounds on the former beach wall . During the 1830s there were more than 100 building stones here, which were described as stone forest. In 1971 numerous fallen stones were put up again. One of the stones at the southern end of the burial ground has more than ten bowls on it.

During the excavation of one of the grave mounds to the south, a total of five burials were found in 1930, four of them as secondary burials. The grave goods of the original burial, a bronze dagger with a wooden scabbard and cups, as well as those of the secondary burials, were dated to the Middle Bronze Age (1000 BC). The stone box of the grave was set up about 30.0 meters to the north after the excavation and covered like a rose .
