Smålandsstenar burial ground
The Smålandsstenar cemetery is located between Varberg and Värnamo in the municipality of Gislaved in the northwest of the Småland province in Sweden .
The cemetery consists of five medium-sized stone circles that cremations surrounded. Outwardly it is in contrast to Gotland or Öland grave fields, which mostly consist of disorganized monoliths . This type of stone setting is called domarringarna in Sweden . One of the five stone circles is incomplete. The largest stone circle has a diameter of about 20 m and consists of more than 20 stones. It is believed that the burial ground used to be larger, but stones were removed for other purposes. The cremation graves have been dated to the late Iron Age through excavations . In Central Europe this corresponds to the migration period .
