The Grégoire-Besson SAS , based in Montfaucon-Montigné (Maine-et-Loire) is a manufacturer of agricultural machinery , especially in the field of tillage .
history
In 1802 Joseph Grégoire founded his company in Montigné-sur-Moine. In 1898 the founder's sons decided to specialize in agricultural engineering. Around 30 plows were produced each year. Alphonse Besson founded the Grégoire-Besson company in 1959. In 1989 around 90 people were employed. Souchu-Pinet was taken over in 2005 and Dehondt in 2006. In 2011 the insolvent German company Rabe Agri was taken over.
World records
- In 2001, a 17-furrow plow plowed 204 hectares in 24 hours.
- In 2002 a combination was used: a 4-furrow front plow and a 13-furrow plow in the rear. An MF 8280 was used as the tractor. An area of around 251 hectares was created in 24 hours.
- In 2005, a Case Steiger 500 and a 20-furrow plow were used to create an area of around 321 hectares.
- In 2007 the company set a world record: In 24 hours, a disc harrow managed to work 644 hectares and that with a minimum depth of 10 cm. When placed on the equator, this corresponds to a strip 155 mm wide.
