The 8th degree of longitude to the east intersects in Gröblingen with the 52nd degree of latitude north. The district road 51 offers a connection to the "horse town" Warendorf and the asparagus village Füchtorf .

history

A special feature in Gröblingen is an old small chapel, which was built in 1688 as a chapel of Our Lady. It is a baroque building with a neo-Romanesque extension from 1904. It was donated by the linen dealer and mayor of Warendorf Heinrich Kleine (1630–1700), who was married to Getrudis Zurstrassen from Warendorf for the first time. The coat of arms of the Zurstrassen family is in the church window of the chapel from 1688 (ht. Sacristy) of the church building from 1904. The newer church also has a rose window with the coat of arms of Zurstrasse above the entrance. This is heraldically extended by the coat of arms of the Belgian Baron Louis Zurstrassen (1892–1971), who was raised to hereditary nobility by the Belgian King Baudouin in 1955. He donated the window after his extensive renovation of the church in 1954/55.

On June 24, 1969, Sassenberg received the right to include the community of Gröblingen in the city area.

Church life

The organizations Schützengemeinde St. Hubertus Velsen-Gröblingen including the honor guard St. Hubertus, whose "atmospheric" shooting festivals are widely known, have a permanent place in Gröblingen. This includes, among other things, an entertainment program for children such as a magician performance and concerts by the brass orchestras.

The Catholic rural youth movement Velsen-Gröblingen is an established force in youth life in the rural community. Usually, among other things, a kart race or a public viewing for soccer tournaments is offered. In cooperation with the parish, the young people embrace the Christian faith.

Elected officials

Alfons Westhoff represents the interests of Gröblingen in the council of the city of Sassenberg, in the main and finance committee of the city of Sassenberg, in the infrastructure committee, in the operating committee for the waterworks and sewage works as well as in the social, youth, culture, sports and school committee of Sassenberg.
