description
The Arsten Süd-West green area is a new park between Arsten and Kattenesch, which was created between 2003 and 2010. It runs through a new development area like a green network. An area was created for numerous animal and plant species as well as for recreation, sport and play. Old trees such as the blackthorn ( Prunus spinosa ) or small irrigation ditches are reminiscent of the former arable landscape. Terrain modeling, groups of trees, lawns for sunbathing, walking paths and three beaches are defining elements of the green area. Play areas, asphalt areas for roller-skaters , a beach volleyball court , a football field and several toboggan hills complete the park and the Asterix initiative's playground on Carl-Katz-Straße .
The Ahlker Forest as a recreational forest , a compensatory measure according to nature conservation law , complements the green to the east.
The cycle and hiking trails of around 4 km in length connect living, work, school, bus and tram (line 4, Arsten terminus), the Obervieland district sports facility, the Arster Ochtumdeich and leisure facilities as well as the other districts close to nature.
Waters such as the south-western Ochtum , the Krummhörnskuhle , the Kleine Silbersee , the Kattenescher Fleet , the Wadeacker Fleet, the Ahlker Fleet and new ponds were included in the green area.
The green area is divided from Ahlker Dorfstraße to Albert-Schweitzer-Straße in the areas Arsten Süd-West 1 to 5.
