Grünbach was a village east of the town of Baumholder , which was cleared and abandoned in 1939 because of the construction of the Baumholder military training area . The desert is in the Baumholder manor district and is not open to the public.

history

The village, mentioned for the first time in 1419, was located in an elongated, north-south-oriented hollow in the headwaters of the stream of the same name, which drains east to Steinalp . From 1570, under the name of Grunebach, until the middle of the 18th century, the town had its own chapel. In 1933 there were still 363 inhabitants in Grünbach.
