Grave angels or cemetery angels are spiritual companions of the deceased at their final resting place.

According to old belief, they guard and accompany the dead on their last journey into the world beyond and guard their grave. They serve as grave decorations and give the bereaved peace, security and consolation. They are particularly common on children's graves. The grave angels or cemetery angels symbolically build a bridge between the deceased and his relatives, friends and relatives. At home, too, they are often next to the picture of the deceased or next to the death candle .
The idea of the existence of angels exists in Judaism as well as Christianity and Islam . The winged beings symbolize the closeness to God.
