First German Angel Museum Engelskirchen is the name of the Engel Museum, which opened on November 20, 2015 in Engelskirchen in the Oberbergischer Kreis . It consists of a collection of around 15,000 angels.

history

The collector Johann Fischer from Engeldorf in the municipality of Kürten had compiled a collection of angels from all over the world since 1985, which was entered as a world record in the Guinness Book of Records in 2002 with 12,642 copies . In 2010 he donated this collection of around 15,000 angels to the Engelverein e. V., who is also responsible for the museum exhibition as the sponsor.

The old locksmith's shop of the former Ermen & Engels cotton factory houses the museum's angel collection. The ceiling is painted as a blue sky with clouds. About 200 angels are attached to it, some of them float down on a string. Paintings and pictures of angels hang on the walls. Individual large angels stand freely on the ground or on shelves, smaller angels are housed in showcases.

A bronze angel weighing just 150 grams that Fischer acquired in Israel is believed to be around 3,000 years old. Two Crottendorfer light angels are wrapped in white rabbit fur coats , they are around 100 years old.
