The black Uruguay tarantula ( Grammostola pulchra ) is a South American species of tarantula .
Appearance and build
The black Uruguay tarantula is around 6 centimeters tall and one of the medium-sized tarantulas. It is solid black and has thick hair that gives it a shiny appearance. In the case of the males, the color is a little more dull and the color can vary between gray and light brown. The species name comes from Latin ( Latin pulcher means "beautiful", "pretty") and is due to the shiny appearance of the spider. The emboli (components of the bulbi or male genital organs) have a well-developed keel on the apical side.
