The Grand Lagoon (English for Great Lagoon , Bulgarian Лагуна Голямата Laguna Goljamata ) is an approximately 1 hectare large lagoon on the south coast of Livingston Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It is located in the middle of Bulgarian Beach , is fed by the Rezovski Creek and is separated from the sea by a 3 m high moraine . It is dominated by a 36 m high hill between Hespérides Hill and Sinemorets Hill . Above the lagoon is the location of the Bulgarian St. Kliment Ohridski station .
Bulgarian scientists explored the bay between 1995 and 1996 and named it descriptively. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee and the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names translated this designation into English shortly afterwards.
