Grand Puba (born March 4, 1966 in New Rochelle , New York ; real name Maxwell Dixon ) is an American rapper . He was a member of the Masters Of Ceremony and is part of the group Brand Nubian , whose front man he was on their first, fourth and fifth albums. His texts often testify to his belief in the Nation of Islam .

Career

Grand Puba began his career in the music business as a member of the Masters Of Ceremony . They released their album Dynamite in 1988 , but separated that same year. Grand Puba has now become a member and front man of Brand Nubian. However, he left this group after their debut in 1990 to pursue a solo career. As a result, the album Reel To Reel was released in 1992 , from which his most successful single 360 Degrees (What Goes Around) , as well as Check It Out featuring Mary J. Blige were released. His second album followed 3 years later in 2000 before reuniting with Brand Nubian. Another solo album was finally released in 2001 with Understand This .
