The Grandmother Rock is a cliff rock off the George V coast in the Australian Antarctic Territory . It belongs to the Mackellar Islands in the Commonwealth Bay and is located immediately west of Cape Denison .
Participants of the Australasian Antarctic Expedition (1911-1914) under the direction of the Australian polar explorer Douglas Mawson discovered him. It is named after one of the sled dogs on the research trip.
