Grange Castle ( Irish Caisleán na Gráinsí ) is a tower house in Grange West in County Kildare, Ireland . It originated in the 15th century and is now considered a National Monument .
history
The De Bermingham family had the castle built around 1460. Fireplaces and battlements were added in the 1600s , the beauty of which the castle is known for. In the 17th century a large country house was added to the Tower House, but it was later burned down. In 1735 the De Berminghams sold Grange Castle to the Tyrell family , who owned it until 1988.
Robert Tyrell then transferred it to the OPW . In 1998 the Bawn, which had been developed in the north and east, was examined archaeologically .
The Tyrell Trust , which owns the property, received help to restore the castle, but plans to do so were abandoned in 2003. Now the castle is slowly falling into disrepair.
