Grant Orchard

Grant Orchard (* 1972 in London-Hounslow ) is a British animator .

Life

Orchard grew up in Ealing , where he attended school. After graduating from Brentside Secondary School, he studied animation at the Farnham School of Art and Design (now University for the Creative Arts , Farnham) until 1995 . From 1997 he worked as a runner for the young animation studio Pizazz Pictures in London, which was later renamed Studio AKA. He started working in the advertising sector at Studio AKA. His first commercial was a campaign for Compac . In 2003, Orchard released his first animated short film, Welcome to Glaringly , which Channel 4 funded. This was followed in 2005 with Park Foot Ball, the first original film Orchards, which premiered at the festival for digital art, onedotzero. Orchard's greatest success to date was A Morning Stroll in 2011 , which received a BAFTA for Best Short Film in 2012 and was nominated for an Oscar in the Best Animated Short Film category in the same year .

Orchard has also been a visiting professor at UCA Farnham since 2012.
