Grass climbing
Grass climbing is a game form of climbing in which the climber does not move on rocks, but on very steep grass flanks that are partially interspersed with rocks. This type of climbing comes into play in the Alps, especially in the Allgäu Alps , where numerous grass mountains make this type of climbing necessary or possible (e.g. at Höfats , Himmelhorn and Schneck ).
The safety options for grass climbing are usually worse than for pure rock climbing and there are more fatal falls. Many experienced grass climbers use an ice ax .
