The Grass GmbH (proper spelling: GRASS) is a global manufacturer of movement systems. Products such as drawer, guide, hinge and flap systems move the furniture of various kitchen providers as well as the trade.
Locations
Grass is headquartered in Höchst in the Austrian state of Vorarlberg . Grass also produces in plants in neighboring Götzis , Hohenems and in Salzburg (competence center for plastics), in Reinheim, Germany (competence center for hinge systems) and in Český Krumlov in the Czech Republic and in Kernersville (North Carolina) in the USA.
Own sales offices are located in Italy, Spain, Great Britain, Sweden, Turkey, China, South Africa and Australia.
The company is represented in 60 countries with over two hundred other sales partners.
history
The Grass company was founded in 1947 by Alfred Grass (* 1914 in Höchst; † 2003) in Höchst and the production of metal parts began in a rented gymnasium. In 1963, Grass developed the world's first all-metal hinge and in the 1970s became one of the most important suppliers to the furniture industry. 1977 followed the founding of its own sales company in the USA.
At the end of the last century, Mepla-Werke (producing furniture fittings in Germany since 1929) merged with Alfit AG from Götzis, which was founded in 1976. Both companies were taken over by the international Würth Group in the 1990s and Grass has also been part of the Würth Group since March 1, 2004.
In 2007 Mepla-Alfit and Grass merged. The new Grass Group emerged from this.
Grass is building a production and logistics building in the "Emspark" operating area in Hohenems as the fourth location in Austria alongside Höchst, Götzis and Salzburg. However, this planning had to be stopped in spring 2019 after reduced sales forecasts.
Products
Product portfolio
The manufacturer's product portfolio extends over different areas: Double and single-walled pull-out systems, guide systems and roller guides are just as much a part of it as hinge, flap and corner cabinet systems. The product portfolio is supplemented by processing aids and processing machines.
