Great Saint James is an island that belongs to the US outskirts of the US Virgin Islands .
The island was acquired in 2016 by the US investment banker and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein (1953-2019). Epstein acquired the neighboring island of Little Saint James in 1998. Both islands belonged to Epstein until his death on August 10, 2019. Epstein was indicted in New York in 2019 for having maintained a child rapist ring on Little Saint James. In 2008, he received a mild sentence in Florida on similar charges.
