The Greenbo Lake is a small reservoir in Greenup County in the US state of Kentucky .
It is part of the Greenbo Lake State Resort Park and in the Ohio River basin . The lake has an area of around 75 hectares and is up to 18 m deep. It is formed by the dammed Claylick Creek and its tributaries Buffalo Branch and Pruitt Fork .
The initiative to create a lake for anglers and general recreational activities came from George Collins and the Greenup Fish & Game Club in 1948. After the selection of the suitable location, "Greenbo", composed of the names of the counties Green up and Bo yd , was chosen as the name of the future lake . The fundraising process begun in 1953 raised $ 210,500. The Greenbo Dam was completed in 1955, and the lake has been part of the state park since 1970.
In the lake catfish, trout and were for anglers Blue sunfish ( bluegill ) exposed. It is also known for the large largemouth bass .
