Greenland Holding Corporation , known as Greenland Group , is a publicly traded Chinese real estate developer based in Shanghai . Founded as a state company, it has since been partially privatized. According to its own assessment, the company was the largest real estate developer in the world in terms of space under construction and turnover in 2014.

In 2018, the company was ranked 341 on the Forbes Global 2000 list of the world's largest publicly traded companies.

history

The company was established in 1992 to develop green belts in the Shanghai area. Starting around 2013, the company began making significant investments in real estate projects outside of China, including projects in London , Sydney , Los Angeles , New York City and Toronto . Major projects currently under development include the Wuhan Greenland Center , which will be one of the tallest buildings in the world.

The company is rapidly expanding into new business areas including finance, corporate, hotel operations, subway investments, and energy. The Greenland Group also owns shares in the Chinese soccer club Shanghai Greenland Shenhua .

In 2018 it was ranked number 1 in the list of the fastest growing companies in the world.

Shareholders

The company has been listed on the stock exchange since 1993. The Shanghai city government currently owns 46% of the shares. The company has been part of SSE 50 since 2017 .
