Greenteam

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A Greenteam [ˈgriːntiːm] is a group of officially two or more children and adolescents aged 9 to 14 who work together to protect the environment and nature . Around 1,800 children are currently active in 900 green teams in Germany.

Many Greenteam activists later continue their engagement in the youth working groups of the Greenpeace youth or in the Greenpeace adult groups.

Setting up a green team

If two or more children have found each other who want to start a green team together, they can register as a green team with Greenpeace free of charge. You can register for the Greenteam online on the children's website www.kids.greenpeace.de. Greenteams are greeted by Greenpeace with their Greenteam ID cards and the "Manual - Environmental protection made easy for Greenteams", in which they can find lots of tips about active environmental protection. In addition, greenteams regularly receive the greenteam magazine "Greentime" and are invited to participate in activities.

Actions

A green team can take part in Greenpeace hands-on activities as well as independently launching its own activities, particularly on the group's environmental issues. Participatory activities include, for example, the nationwide children's campaigns “Kids for Wales”, “Kids for Forest” and “Kids for Earth”. The green teams can freely choose their own topics. Greenpeace also worked out topics for green teams. For example, wasting energy and raw materials at school , avoiding rubbish and waste , and polluting the air and water .

Activities of the green teams are always carried out legally. Demonstrations, rallies, information stands and collections of signatures are some of the many different forms of action.

Greenteams can request information material from Greenpeace for their campaigns, including badges and stickers .
