Gregg Karukas (born May 18, 1961 in Baltimore ) is an American keyboardist and composer of smooth jazz .

Live and act

Gregg Karukas is originally from the Washington, DC area ; he already experimented with keyboards as a child. As a teenager he turned his passion for jazz into a profession. At 17, right out of high school, he began a five-year partnership with Tim Eyermann's East Coast Offering . In 1983 he moved to Los Angeles , where he soon worked with the Rippingtons , Ronnie Laws , Melissa Manchester , Patti Austin , Kenny G. and David Benoit . In later years he developed his own smooth jazz style ; his songs have been played on many American jazz radio stations.

Karukas has written several compositions with the Brazilian composer Dori Caymmi .
