Gregor Fichtner (born March 16, 1828 in Greiling , † September 23, 1901 in Munich ) was a paper manufacturer and member of the German Reichstag .

Life

Fichtner attended elementary school and in 1854 bought the handmade paper factory in Gmund, which still exists today . In 1883 he installed the first paper machine there, which is still in operation today. According to the company, it is the oldest still running machine in Europe. He was also active in agriculture and owned a sawmill.

From 1878 to 1884 he was a member of the German Reichstag for the constituency of Upper Bavaria 7 ( Rosenheim ) and the German Center Party .
