Gregorio García Segura

Gregorio García Segura (born February 13, 1929 in Cartagena , Murcia region , † December 12, 2003 in Madrid ) was a Spanish film composer .

García Segura came from a family of musicians and began studying in Madrid in 1949. He then worked as a pianist and song composer and achieved his first success with his compositions Un compromiso (sung by Antonio Machín ) and Un telegrama , when the latter, interpreted by Monna Bell , won at the first Festival de Benidorm . García Segura then received many commissions for other songs and theater music. He wrote his first film score in 1959 for Carmen de la ronda .

García Seguro composed music for nearly 200 films in his five-decade career. A long artistic partnership connected him with the director Mariano Ozores , for whom he orchestrated over 25 films. In 1990 he was nominated for a Goya Award for the film music of The Things of Love .
