Gregory Bernstein

Gregory E. Bernstein (born July 5, 1955 in Los Angeles , California ) is an American screenwriter and younger brother of the composer Peter Bernstein and son of the Oscar-winning composer Elmer Bernstein .

Life

After graduating summa cum laude with a bachelor's degree in history from the University of California, Los Angeles, Gregory Bernstein studied law at UCLA Law School and was also the editor-in-chief of UCLA's Law Review . He then worked in the entertainment department of the law firm O'Melveny & Myers , whereupon he moved to Columbia Pictures in 1982 and became vice president of the business department. He then held this position at TriStar Pictures and Lorimar Telepictures until 1988. During this time he completed a degree in directing at the American Film Institute , which he completed with a master's degree and enabled him to move into the film business.

After Bernstein received an associate professorship at Chapman University in 2003 , he received a Master of Accountancy from Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government in 2004.

Gregory Bernstein lives with his wife, screenwriter Sara Bernstein and their daughter in Los Angeles.

He made his debut as a screenwriter with One Day in Dallas , and directed his first and so far last productions with Film. He was involved in the script for four other films. He appeared as an actor in three productions in the 1990s.
