Gregory L. Lucente

Gregory L. Lucente (born 1948 in Illinois ; † June 26, 1997 ) was an American Romance scholar, Italianist and literary scholar.

life and work

Lucente studied at Yale University and Middlebury College (Masters Degree 1973). He received his PhD in 1979 from the University of Wisconsin in Madison with the work Realism and myth in modern narrative. Verga, Lawrence, Faulkner, Pavese (published and T. The Narrative of Realism and Myth. Verga. Lawrence. Falkner. Pavese , Baltimore 1981). He taught at Loyola University Chicago and at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore , where he was a full professor from 1987. From 1988 he was professor of Italian at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor .

Lucente died in a traffic accident.
