The Greifenhagener Brücke - also called Greifenhagener Steg - is a bridge for pedestrians and cyclists in the Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg district in the Pankow district . It leads the Greifenhagener Straße over the railway systems of the S-Bahn and the long-distance railway at the eastern exit of the S-Bahn station Schönhauser Allee .

history

It is an iron truss bridge from 1910/1911. The designs come from the engineer Fritz Hedde and the architect Arno Körnig . The building is a listed building. It is supported on several pairs of iron supports between the railway tracks.

Art Nouveau-like ornaments (partly punched, partly inlaid) in the metal plates of the railing and four pairs of wrought iron lights serve as bridge decorations . Both were made in the workshop of the blacksmith Eduard Puls .

The bridge was not damaged in the two world wars , but the pavement was later given an asphalt surface. Almost all parts of the railing are now disfigured with graffiti or wild stickers. Directly on the bridge there is a stairway leading to the Schönhauser Allee S-Bahn station . This was inserted in connection with the construction of the “Schönhauser Allee Arcaden” and the demolition of the old access building on the north side.
