The Hellenthal game reserve with the Hellenthal bird of prey station stored in the game reserve is a 65-hectare zoo south of the Eifel National Park , in Hellenthal ( Euskirchen district ).

The zoo was founded in 1967 and is privately owned. His focus is on native animal species that are presented in natural surroundings. The game reserve and the bird of prey station are open all year round.

The game reserve is home to deer , fallow deer , wild boar , mouflon , lynx , foxes , wild cats , raccoons , raccoon dogs and wild horses .

Eagles , buzzards , kites and falcons can be seen in free flight in the Hellenthal bird of prey station, which is internationally renowned for its success in breeding . Exotic birds of prey such as the fish eagle , desert buzzard , bald eagle , condor and blue buzzard (also called aguja or cordillian eagle ) can be observed in the station. Flight demonstrations take place several times a day.

In addition to a playground, a children's zoo and a Park Express, there are also restaurants in the zoo.
