The Greiner Bio-One GmbH is an Austrian - German medical undertakings, and part of the Greiner AG .
history
On September 7, 1868, Carl Albert Greiner founded a grocery and hardware store in Nürtingen , Baden-Württemberg . 1885 from the grocery store a cork factory . The first plastic parts were cast at Greiner in 1958. With the founding of Greiner Laboratory Technology in 1963, the production of the first plastic Petri dishes began and thus the history of today's Greiner Bio-One International GmbH.
In the 1980s, the development of the first vacuum blood collection system made of plastic (Vacuette) was a global success and Greiner Laboratory Technology became the trendsetter for vacuum blood collection.
In 1992 the company moved to Bad Haller Strasse in Kremsmünster , Austria . 18 years later, on October 28, 2000, Greiner Labortechnik was renamed to Greiner Bio-One for increased internationalization.
Today Greiner Bio-One is one of the leading medical technology companies worldwide with a total of 27 branches as well as dealers and sales partners in over 100 countries.
Segments
The company specializes in the development, production and sale of quality plastic products for laboratory use and is a technology partner for hospitals, laboratories, universities, research institutions, the diagnostic and pharmaceutical industries and biotechnology.
Greiner Bio-One is divided into three business segments: Preanalytics, BioScience and Sterilization. As an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), Greiner Bio-One takes on individual, customer-specific design developments and manufacturing processes for the life sciences and medicine sectors.
Products
BioScience
The BioScience division of Greiner Bio-One is one of the leading suppliers of special products for the cultivation and analysis of cell and tissue cultures. Based on decades of experience with frozen storage of samples, Greiner Bio-One also offers solutions for automated storage systems in biobanks. In addition, it develops and produces microplates for high-throughput screening, which enable industry and research to perform the fastest and most efficient testing of active substances.
Products for cell culture, mass cell culture, 3D cell culture
With the Cellstar product line, Greiner Bio-One BioScience products are developed and sold for cell culture , storage and separation of cells as well as for specific applications in medical, pharmaceutical and biotechnological research. In addition, the company offers solutions for the automation and scale-up of mass cell cultures as well as for 3D cell cultivation.
High throughput screening (HTS) products
Greiner Bio-One has been producing plastic microplates for decades, which are used in laboratories around the world for diagnostics and research. Microplates enable fast, automated analysis of a large number of substances. This high level of efficiency ensures the successful development of new drugs, for example. In addition to microplates, which are used for testing pharmaceutical active ingredients, the company offers special plates for immunology , protein crystallization and DNA analysis .
Products for the freezer storage of samples
For the freezing and storage of samples, Greiner Bio-One offers an extensive product portfolio with Cryo.s freezing tubes, racks and electronic accessories for opening and closing tubes and for sample tracking.
Products for general laboratory use and liquid handling
Greiner Bio-One's product portfolio for a wide range of activities in the laboratory includes products such as pipettes and the associated pipette tips for handling liquids, as well as small devices that facilitate work with a wide variety of samples.
Preanalytics
Greiner Bio-One offers an extensive product portfolio both for routine activities and for special areas of application in pre- and post-analysis. The portfolio ranges from evacuated blood collection tubes , urine tubes and containers to many other accessories and safety products through to ESR systems (sedimentation rate), transport and disposal containers and various auxiliary devices such as decapping devices.
Collection systems for blood, urine and saliva
The Vacuette line includes sampling systems for blood, urine and saliva. The sampling tubes contain a pre-metered vacuum and the additives required for further processing.
MiniCollect offers a way of collecting minimal amounts of blood for a broad spectrum of analysis. The system is also suitable for small children, the elderly and patients with difficult venous conditions.
Security products
By using safety products such as cannulas with protective caps, safety tube holders or safety blood collection sets when taking samples, the risk of injury and contamination can be significantly reduced.
Accessory products
The Greiner Bio-One range of preanalytics also includes accessories for venous (tube holders, blood collection sets and cannulas, snap caps and much more) and capillary blood collection (carrier tubes, funnels, capillaries), urine collection (urine sets, cups, collection containers and much more) ) as well as accessories for the disposal boxes and for the transport line.
Transport, disposal and equipment
In order to safely transport the containers filled with samples, Greiner Bio-One offers transport boxes and containers. Also in the range are various decap and ESR devices as well as disposal boxes in many different sizes for different needs.
OEM
At the customer's request, Greiner Bio-One produces a wide range of plastic platforms for the life science sector using the injection molding process. The entire product development and production process from the idea to the finished product, i.e. design studies, prototyping and fully automated production under one roof, are covered by the company. The company realizes small series, series productions and customer-specific branding.
