Grenana is an extinct seed plant of the Ginkgoaceae familyand a relative of the Ginkgo . Only the species Grenana angrenica is known.

features

The seed organs resemble Nehvizdyella in that the seeds are enclosed in a large cupula . Otherwise the seeds are similar to those of ginkgo .

The leaves are of the Baiera or Sphenobaiera type . They were initially assigned to the seed ferns , only later was it recognized that they belong to the Ginkgoales .

distribution

Grenana is known from the middle Jura near Angren in Uzbekistan.

Systematics

Grenana is only known through the type species Grenana angrenica . Species and genus were first described by Samylina in 1990 .
