Grenjaðarstaður is a turf house settlement in northern Iceland in the municipality of Þingeyjarsveit .
geography
The settlement is located northeast of Vestmannsvatn and north of the Múlaheiði plateau on the south bank of the Laxá river in the south of Aðaldalur .
Description and history
The church was built in 1865; Church bells from 1663 and 1740 hang above a gate. The yard is around 775 m². You can visit the rooms of the house in summer, from the beginning of June to the end of August. On a rune stone from the 15th century there is an inscription that calls for prayer.
The farm was inhabited until 1949. In 1958 it was opened as a museum.
