The Grenzkommando Nord belonged to the GDR border troops . The command staff was Stendal .

history

The command was initially set up in Kalbe / Milde and Beetzendorf in 1971 . After the completion of the new barracks in Stendal, the command was relocated to Gardelegene Straße. In 1989 restructuring began with the formation of border district commandos.

The border regiments (GR) were subordinate to the border command :

  • GR 6 "Hans Kollwitz" in Schönberg
  • GR 7 in Wittenburg
  • GR 8 "Robert Abshagen" in Grabow
  • GR 20 "Martin Schwantes" in Halberstadt
  • GR 21 in Beetsendorf
  • GR 23 "Wilhelm Bahnik" in Kalbe / Mitbe
  • GR 24 "Fritz Heckert" in Salzwedel
  • GR 25 "Neidhardt von Gneisenau" in Oschersleben

the border training regiments (GAR):

  • GAR 5 "Gustav Sobottka" in Glöwen
  • GAR 7 "Martin Hoop" in Halberstadt

as well as the reconnaissance company

  • SIK-25 in Mönchhai near Halberstadt.
