Greta Feurich

Greta Feurich (born 1936 ) is a former German field hockey player .

Career

Greta Feurich comes from Hamburg . She joined the Harvestehuder tennis and hockey club when she was thirteen . As an adult, she was not only one of the club's regular players, but soon became the team leader. With her, the HTHC dominated German women's field hockey in the late 1950s and early 1960s. She was with her club in the years 1957 to 1960, 1962 and 1964 German champion in women's field hockey. She was considered the world's best hockey player in her time. She also played for the German national team.

After finishing her playing career, she first became the coach of her club, later also the coach of the German national women's field hockey team , with which she became vice world champion in 1979.

Awards

On March 3, 1962, she was awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf by Federal President Heinrich Lübke . In 1963 she received the Golden Badge of Honor of her association and finally the Federal Cross of Merit from Federal President Horst Köhler .

Since 1963 she was married to Dietz Blunck, a club friend.
