Griefers
A griefers (engl., Dt .: "suffering polluter pays") is a player in a multiplayer - Computer game of trying to take other players to enjoy the game without violating directly against basic rules of the game.
He either behaves in a way that hinders the game, so that he harasses many players at the same time, or fixes himself on a single player whom he accompanies. Transferred to the real world , a grief would, for example, be a footballer who deliberately pushes the ball out of the field again and again. Whether and how such play styles are punished depends very much on the respective game or game operator.
In online role-playing games , grievers mainly try to prevent other players from gaining experience points or successfully completing various tasks. For example, they go into game sections in which, for their circumstances, only easy opponents are to be found, but which represent a challenge for their teammates. If a teammate tries to kill an opponent and thus gain experience, the griefer kills this opponent beforehand.
In the sandbox game Minecraft , the term grief can also be understood in a different way: The player destroys the property of another player, for example by stealing items or destroying or defacing buildings.
Some grievers publish their actions in the form of videos and the like. on online platforms such as YouTube .
