List of domestic dogs

The Griffon à Poil Laineux (wool- haired pointing dog) also Griffon d'arrêt à Poil Laineux or named after its most famous breeder Emanuel Boulet Boulet Griffon or in French Griffon Boulet , was a French breed of dog recognized by the FCI (formerly FCI Group 7, Section 1.3, Standard No. 174 ). The breed is still recognized by the SCC today.

Origin and history

The breed is considered extinct. The FCI announced that the last entry in a stud book was dated 1984: It is possible that a dog of this breed still exists here and there in France, but it is certainly not possible to speak of regular breeding. No breeders of this breed are known to the SCC either.

A first detailed description of this breed comes from the year 1884 from the "Schweizerischer Hundestammbuch", Volume 1. The author, Neukomm, mentioned that "laineux" (wool-haired) would be incorrect, the hair is extremely long and rather silky. At that time, the Laineux was very popular and won the highest awards at numerous exhibitions . Korthals used these dogs to develop his Griffon breed, known as Griffon Korthals .

description

The size is 55 to 60 cm, the hair is soft, almost silky, dull, smooth to slightly wavy. Desired colors are maroon or dry leaves.

In the field, the dogs looked rather with a "high nose" and could take on a setter or pointer.
