Cricket scales

Cricket scales (production controlled by the Shanghai barbecue association )

Cricket scales are scales with which crickets caught, bred, trained and used in animal fights are weighed. This ensures that only animals of the same weight class compete against each other in cricket tournaments. They are especially common in China .

Until recently, specially manufactured sliding weight scales were used in which the crickets were weighed in a cylindrical, closed container made of various materials.

More recently, electronic barbecue scales (Dianzi xishuai cheng) have also been used for this purpose.

Remarks

  1. ↑ In Chinese , the cricket scale is called xishuai cheng ( 蟋蟀 秤 or 蟋蟀 称 or 蟋蟀 稱 ), where cheng stands for gǎnchèng ( Chinese  杆秤  - "running weight scale"). Xīshuài 蟋蟀 is one of the Chinese words for the cricket.
