Grimmelhaus
The Grimmelhaus is a house built by the Grimmel patrician family in the Upper Swabian town of Memmingen .

The house is near the end of Ulmer Straße (Ulmer Straße 19) in the former Ulmer suburb . The suburb ended two houses further north with the city wall and the Ulmer Tor .
Building description
It was built in the 15th and 16th centuries and has the arched frieze on consoles, which is typical of old Memmingen houses. The upper floors are protruding. The arched portal has a skylight richly decorated with tendrils and a monogram from the first quarter of the 18th century. The door knockers from the beginning of the 18th century are shaped like lions' heads with snakes and were made of brass in the Grimmel hammer factory.
On the ground floor there is a room with four groin vaults and a central pillar built around 1500 with a simple transom. The stucco ceiling from around 1730 has leaves and bands, the staircase, on the other hand, is just plain frame stucco . On the first floor there are seven doors with drilled floors. Some of the wings still have the old fittings from around 1730. In a room on the first floor that is interrupted by a partition, the ceiling is stuccoed with tendrils and lattices from the same period. The real wood parquet flooring contains an inlaid rosette . The wooden ceiling with diagonally laid profile strips was added in the 16th or 17th century. On the second floor there is a room open to the south in three arcades with stucco pilasters with a ceiling decorated with stucco made of ribbon work, flowers and grids. The stucco ceiling of the anteroom consists only of simple bandwork. The wooden ceiling was also drawn in in the 16th or 17th centuries. A three-storey rear building with a gable roof connects to the northwest side.
