Grimoald II (Benevento)
Grimoald II , also Grimwald , († 689 ) was Duke of Benevento from 687 to 689 .
Life
Grimoald was the eldest son of dux Romuald I of Benevento and his wife Theuderada, daughter of dux Lupus of Friuli.
Romuald married his son and designated successor Grimoald II with Wigilinde, the daughter of King Perctarit and his wife Rodelinda . Hodgkin assumes that this should settle the dispute between the clan of the usurper Romuald and Perctarits. When Romuald died in 687, Grimoald II succeeded him as dux of Benevento. His reign of three years evidently passed without significant events.
When Grimoald died in 689, his younger brother Gisulf I succeeded him as dux von Benevento.
