Gritta Ley

Gritta Ley (actually Margarete Schmidt , married Margarete Ittelson ; * 1898 , † 1986 ) was a German actress .

Life

Ley was seen in numerous silent films from the late 1920s . She got her stage name from film. Ley was described by the Berliner Morgenpost in the film Der Teufelsreporter from 1929 as follows: … Gritta Ley is pretty, blond, but stiff… . Her career ended with the start of talkies . Since she was married to the Jewish architect Ittelson, she could probably no longer be artistically active from 1933 onwards. In 1939 she emigrated to the USA via Cuba .
