The great fat- tailed lemur ( Cheirogaleus ravus ) is a primate species from the lemur group . The species is only known from museum specimens and was described in 2000 . Whether the shape is actually a separate species is disputed. It is possible that the great gray fat-tailed lemur is just a morph of the brown fat- tailed lemur ( Cheirogaleus major ).

Large fat-tailed gray lemurs reach a head body length of around 24 centimeters, the tail is just as long. Their fur is gray on the top and bottom, the feet and the tip of the tail are white. There is an inconspicuous eel line on the back . As with all fat-tailed lemurs , the head is rounded and the snout rather short, the dark ears are hairless.

The specimens attributed to this species come from the region around the city of Toamasina on the east coast of Madagascar , so the habitat of this species are rainforests . Otherwise nothing is known about the way of life.

The degree of risk is also unclear, the IUCN lists the species under “too little data available” ( data deficient ).
